Ash tree removal and replanting project
A nearly $500,000 USDA grant is funding ash tree removal and 500+ replacement trees in southeast Richfield, about 75% done. Council debated whether to allow exceptions to boulevard tree placement rules.
Updated Climate Action Plan
The council adopted the city's updated Climate Action Plan as a consent item, setting Richfield's sustainability and emissions-reduction roadmap.
Excessive outdoor lighting
Residents pushed the city to dim, warm, and shield its bright new LED streetlights, citing health, wildlife, and safety concerns — including blinding lighting at Veterans Park. Staff are already adding shields at a public works building and will keep evaluating.
