A Black and Native two-spirit youth fellow urged the county to consistently make space for Native youth voices in decision-making, not just during recognition months, and to invest in community-led solutions.

A longtime community member whose remarks were read in her absence thanked the county for the proclamation and affirmed the partnership between the American Indian community and Ramsey County.

The chair of St. Paul Indians in Action spoke on Dakota homelands, emphasized that Native cultures were fought for and carried forward, and called for creating space for Native youth to lead.
